Aaron Rodgers, now 40, faces uncertainty regarding his future. The Jets have been grappling with considerable difficulties this season as they strive for a thorough organizational transformation. With several key members, including head coach Robert Saleh, departing, fans are left pondering if Rodgers might be the next to exit.

More pressing are the questions surrounding whether the experienced quarterback will return to the field after this season. Rodgers discussed his future on the Pat McAfee show:

“I think, at this point, I’m open to everything and attached to nothing. … A lot can change … but playing in New York would obviously be my first choice, if I wanted to play.”

Rodgers acknowledges his age and appears indecisive about his desire to continue his playing career. In response to rumors suggesting he plans to extend his tenure into 2025 with another team, he clarified:

“As far as my future goes, I haven’t told anybody in my life that I wanna play in 2025 [but not for] the Jets. That’s 100% false…I’m gonna wait and see what happens at the end of the season, if they want me back…When you’re 40, going on 41, you’re obviously at the end of your career.”

These remarks came in light of a report from The Athletic, which suggested that Rodgers is not particularly keen on staying with the Jets after two seasons with the franchise.

Regardless of Rodgers’ own plans, the Jets seem ready to part ways as well. Their 2024 season appears even more complicated than the 2023 campaign with rookie quarterback Zach Wilson.

According to reports, Jets owner Woody Johnson is considering the possibility of releasing Aaron Rodgers after this season, which has seen him complete just one full year with the team. With seven games remaining in the season, the Jets’ playoff aspirations look bleak, making it increasingly improbable for Rodgers to lead them to a championship.
