Four-star defensive lineman Isaiah Campbell has made the official decision to decommit from Clemson University. He shared his choice last week on X.

“After much prayer and counsel, I am announcing my decommitment from Clemson University,” he stated. “At this time, I am continuing to develop relationships with schools that reflect my values and aspirations. I recognize this might come as a surprise, but I kindly ask for respect for my decisions, as well as those of my family and coaches, as we manage this transition.

Originally, Campbell committed to the Tigers in January after choosing the ACC program over opportunities from Florida State, North Carolina, Oklahoma, and Tennessee. As he reassesses his choices, the Southern defensive tackle has already scheduled official visits to Tennessee and North Carolina. These institutions seem to be primary contenders in his recruitment moving ahead.

Ranked among the top 100 in ESPN300, Campbell is recognized as one of the top three recruits in North Carolina.

Even with Campbell’s exit, Clemson boasts a strong roster in its 2025 recruiting class, featuring six ESPN300 commitments. However, many analysts believe this signals a significant shift for a program that once dominated recruiting seasons. The Athletic’s Manny Navarro shared his candid perspective on the current situation of the program during a recent Sirius XM radio interview.

“I believe Dabo has distanced himself from the reality that finding proven players who can step in and replace those who leave is crucial,” Navarro commented. “Looking at Clemson, it feels like they’ve regressed to what they were before Dabo’s arrival. In my opinion, that’s what they are. They represent the Clemson prior to Dabo getting there.”

For context, the Clemson Tigers, under head coach Tommy Bowden, reached the postseason every year except for 2004. While this is commendable, the transformation of Tigers football under Swinney is very evident.
