The NFL has investigated the circumstances surrounding Mac Jones, quarterback for the New England Patriots, and reached a determination regarding the allegations made by Sauce Gardner.
On Monday, Gardner shared a video purportedly showing the incident. In the footage, Gardner pushes Jones following a scramble after a quarterback sneak during Sunday’s game. Gardner claims that Jones struck him in the groin.
According to Tom Pelissero from NFL Network, it seems unlikely that Mac Jones will face suspension as a result of the recent claims by New York Jets cornerback Ahmad “Sauce” Gardner. However, a fine could still be a possibility.
Numerous video clips have been circulating on social media, yet none provide clear evidence of any wrong behavior on Jones’s part.
During an appearance on “Jones & Mego” this week, the third-year quarterback stated that the incident was unintentional. This isn’t the first time Jones has faced accusations of unsportsmanlike conduct. Last year, Cincinnati Bengals cornerback Eli Apple accused him of “unsportsmanlike conduct” after he lunged at Apple’s legs during an interception. Furthermore, Philadelphia Eagles cornerback Darius Slay criticized Jones on social media, calling him “Unclean af!!”
Previously, the NFL sanctioned Jones for the low hit on Apple as well as for another instance of unnecessary roughness during that same game.
