Browns rookie Michael Hall Jr. is facing serious allegations after his fiancée reportedly accused him of committing domestic violence earlier this month. However, she has since retracted her claims, telling a prosecutor that she was “incorrect” when she claimed Hall threatened her with a firearm during a heated encounter at a residence in Avon, Ohio.
Hall was arrested on August 13 in relation to this incident. According to the initial report from his fiancée, who is also the mother of his child, he had pressed a gun against her head, declaring, “I will f***ing end it all. I don’t care.”
As reported by the New York Post, the altercation reportedly stemmed from a financial dispute concerning her child from a previous relationship.
The 21-year-old athlete has pleaded not guilty, although the police report detailed “numerous signs of a physical confrontation.” Additionally, investigators found two firearms on the bedroom mattress.
This is not the first incident involving domestic disputes between the couple; there was a prior occurrence where she allegedly struck Hall with a glass bottle. In that case, the charges were dismissed when Hall chose not to testify against her.
A northeast Ohio native, Hall played at Ohio State before being drafted by the Browns in the second round (54th overall) of this year’s NFL Draft. The implications of a possible suspension remain unclear. Importantly, he returned to practice the day after his release on a $10,000 bond.
Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski declined to comment on the matter during practices last week.
“Respectfully, I don’t have much to add,” he said to reporters. “I’m going to let legal processes unfold.”
This situation will be evaluated under the NFL’s personal conduct policy, with further updates anticipated.
