The Nebraska Cornhuskers and Colorado Buffaloes are gearing up for their 73rd meeting, with both teams having a longstanding familiarity. Last year, the matchup concluded with a score of 36-14 in favor of Coach Deion Sanders. Nebraska’s Coach Matt Rhule has highlighted this rematch on his calendar throughout the offseason.

Significantly, Nebraska will feature freshman quarterback Dylan Raiola, who passed for 238 yards and two touchdowns in last week’s victory over UTEP.
Ahead of the matchup, Colorado’s Deion Sanders shared his thoughts on Nebraska.
“I hold great respect for Matt Rhule,” Sanders stated. “We are part of a fraternity. He may not have played the desired position, but he brings valuable experience to his coaching career.”
With Coach Prime’s son, Shedeur Sanders, at quarterback and the dynamic Travis Hunter on the roster, Colorado is looking to replicate their successful performance against Nebraska last season, where they won 36-14.

Additionally, Shedeur Sanders currently leads the nation in passing yards after throwing for 445 yards and four touchdowns last week against North Dakota State, while Hunter contributed 131 receiving yards and three touchdowns in their opener.
It’s important to note that tensions between the teams heightened last year following the arrival of the Sanders duo at Colorado.
“It was incredibly personal… The coach made numerous remarks about my father and the program – but now he wants to portray kindness. I don’t hold that in high regard.”

Both teams are expected to bring high energy to this upcoming game, a rivalry that dates back to 1898, where Nebraska has triumphed 49 times against Colorado’s 21 victories (with two games ending in a tie). It’s also notable that since Nebraska’s exit from the Big 12, Colorado has won all three of their recent encounters.
Nebraska Head Coach, Matt Rhule reflects on Shedeur Sanders and Colorado:
“He’s an extraordinary competitor and very resilient.”
