Former NFL quarterback Tom Brady is now working to establish himself as a key analyst in the broadcasting arena. His official debut with FOX Sports will occur this Sunday as the Dallas Cowboys take on the Cleveland Browns in both teams’ season opener.

However, eager fans got a glimpse of Brady during halftime of the Texas vs. Michigan game, also broadcast on FOX. He faced some backlash online over his … performance.

“While joining Joel Klatt for the halftime segment of the Texas-Michigan match on Fox, Brady seemed to struggle at times, searching for the right words as he transitioned from his thoughts to the actual points he made,” reported Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk.

One moment highlighted by Florio was when he was asked about Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson, whose time in Cleveland has been disappointing so far.

“Deshaun is eager to prove that … Cleveland made the right investment in him and that he can deliver in crucial moments,” Brady replied.

Florio suggested another aspect to consider.

“The hesitation was apparent,” he observed. “Brady seemed to want to express his true thoughts. Watson has a five-year fully guaranteed contract, but he has yet to justify it. Should he fail to perform this year, Cleveland may need to think about cutting ties, even if it means paying him $92 million.

“That’s likely what was on Brady’s mind. (If not, he should have been.) So why not just say it?”

Critics on social media were also vocal, with one user stating that Brady “looks like a charming vampire.”

The comparisons continued as another user joked, “Whenever Tom Brady is near a carbohydrate, I bet he hisses like a vampire near garlic.”

These comments are indeed sharp—but the truth remains, FOX is paying Brady handsomely to speak his mind. Let’s hope he does precisely that during his first NFL season in the commentary booth.
