Comedian Kevin Hart is now navigating life in a wheelchair after sustaining an injury during a foot race against former NFL player Stevan Ridley.

At 44 years old, Hart revealed that he suffered a tear in his lower abdomen and hip abductors while competing against 34-year-old Ridley in a 40-yard dash. Even without this unfortunate event, Hart’s chances of winning were not particularly high.

In a light-hearted jab, Ridley humorously attributed Hart’s situation to Tom Brady, the legendary retired quarterback with seven Super Bowl titles to his name.

Brady, who called an end to his remarkable 23-year NFL career this past February at the age of 45, is celebrated for consistently exceeding expectations. Few athletes are able to maintain such a high level of performance at that stage in their careers, making Brady’s retirement a significant moment in football history.

The prognosis for Hart’s recovery and how long he will be dependent on a wheelchair remains uncertain. If he were a professional NFL player, it’s likely he would be out until December.

Ridley, a member of the New England Patriots’ Super Bowl-winning team in the 2014-15 season, faced his share of injuries, including a torn ACL that sidelined him during the playoffs.

Throughout his NFL career, Ridley participated in 73 games, carrying the ball 743 times for a total of 3,102 yards and scoring 24 touchdowns. After his college career at LSU, he played with multiple teams, including the New York Jets, Atlanta Falcons, Denver Broncos, Minnesota Vikings, and Pittsburgh Steelers.
