Travis Hunter, a prominent player for the University of Colorado Buffaloes, is quickly becoming one of college football’s most recognized stars. His unique style of play allows him to shine on both sides of the ball, serving as a cornerback on defense and a wide receiver on offense.

Travis Hunter Outlines His Conditions for Remaining at Colorado

Hunter is eligible for the draft this spring and is expected to declare for the 2025 NFL Draft, where he is anticipated to be a top pick.

Nevertheless, he might opt to skip the draft and continue his journey in Boulder. When humorously asked about the price tag to keep him at Colorado, Hunter jokingly stated it would require $40 million.

Deion Sanders Responds to Pat McAfee

The Buffaloes have surprised many this season, greatly due to Hunter’s outstanding performances. Offensively, he is enjoying the most successful season of his college career, having already exceeded his personal record for receiving touchdowns halfway through the season.

On the defensive side, he has also shined, tallying 10 solo tackles and two interceptions this season. His impressive displays have led many analysts to believe he is a leading contender for the Heisman Trophy by season’s end. However, during College Gameday, host Pat McAfee noted that he ranked Hunter second in the Heisman race.

Buffaloes’ head coach, Deion Sanders, quickly contested that claim.

“And how is that? How do you even fix your mouth to say that? How do you even fix your mouth to say that?” Sanders questioned McAfee.

“Travis Hunter and second place have never gotten along.”

This isn’t the first time this week Coach Sanders has shown frustration with the media. Previously, he was asked by a reporter about who excelled more as a two-way athlete—himself or Hunter—which he found problematic.

“It’s not me against Travis,” Sanders said in a recent press conference. “I had my time, man. I’m not a doorknob anymore. You can’t just turn me on and off like a light switch anymore. I don’t do that. Travis is everything. He is ‘it.’ It’s his time now. I want him to receive all the accolades, all the praise, all the love, all the attention, and all the focus he desires. I’ve had my turn.”
