Eagles Lock Down Dallas Goedert as A.J. Brown Trade Buzz Intensifies!

Dallas Goedert has secured a one-year deal to stay with the Philadelphia Eagles, as reported by NFL Media. The contract is valued at $7 million and includes a signing bonus of $4.25 million, according to ESPN.

The Eagles and Goedert have been in discussions since free agency began, and they have worked to avoid a contract void that would have resulted in a $20.5 million dead cap hit. By reaching an agreement just before the void date, both sides ensured a smooth continuation of Goedert’s tenure with the team.

Goedert recorded a career-high last season with 60 catches and 11 touchdowns, making this timing critical for his value on the market. If not for the adjustments made to his contract, he would have entered free agency for the first time in his career.

While interest from other teams was likely, Goedert’s loyalty to the Eagles played a significant role in his decision. Since being drafted in the second round back in 2018, he has only known this franchise and has enjoyed a successful eight-year career here.

He was part of the Eagles’ Super Bowl 59 team and has consistently contributed each year, averaging at least 33 catches, 334 yards, and two touchdowns throughout his time in the league.

Implications of Goedert’s Deal for A.J. Brown

With Goedert’s contract settled, the Eagles can now shift their attention to A.J. Brown’s situation. Goedert’s restructured cap hit for 2026 is substantially lower than the potential cap hit if he had left as a free agent. This newfound financial flexibility may impact the Eagles’ ability to navigate Brown’s trade discussions.

Brown’s name has been at the forefront of trade rumors, especially after his role with the team seemed to diminish in 2025. However, trading him is not a straightforward process. Moving before June 1 would incur a hefty cap penalty, which is likely influencing Philadelphia’s high asking price.

As reported by ESPN, there are no recent updates concerning Brown’s trade status immediately following Goedert’s re-signing.
