During the home game featuring the Dallas Cowboys and the New York Jets, defensive line coach Sharrif Floyd was escorted to the Cowboys’ locker room for evaluation in the third quarter. CBS sideline reporter Tracy Wolfson noted that Floyd lost consciousness but was assisted in walking to the locker room.

He was later transported to a hospital for further care.

“Sharrif was sent to the hospital. That’s all the details I possess. We were prudent in response to what occurred and are satisfied with the communications we have received.”

The incident occurred after Micah Parsons mishandled the ball at the Jets’ 37-yard line, which was initially ruled a touchdown. Floyd, a former star at the University of Florida, joined the Cowboys’ coaching staff in February 2023 following a four-season stint with the Minnesota Vikings.

Many fans have sent their thoughts and prayers for Floyd’s recovery:

At 32 years old, Floyd played in the NFL for five seasons with the Minnesota Vikings from 2013 to 2017 before joining the Cowboys as an assistant defensive line coach in February. In 2018, Floyd drew attention for filing a lawsuit against renowned sports surgeon Dr. James Andrews, seeking $180 million, claiming that a pain-blocking injection administered during a knee operation caused nerve and muscle damage two years prior. Following the lawsuit, he did not return to the NFL.
