Tom Brady has finally admitted what many observing his jubilant celebration of a seventh Super Bowl title suspected all along.

The former quarterback for the Patriots and Buccaneers was captured on camera throwing the Lombardi Trophy from one boat to another during the Buccaneers’ parade. It seemed that the player widely regarded as the greatest of all time may have indulged a bit too much that day, a sentiment he has now confirmed.

During a discussion with his former teammate Rob Gronkowski on the ‘Let’s Go’ podcast, Brady shared that he didn’t consider the possible consequences of the Lombardi Trophy dropping into the water.

“I feel like you sort of had like, two beverages, and you hadn’t in a couple of years and the two drinks, compared to someone else, would be completely sober and very capable,” Gronkowski told him (H/T People). “You consumed two drinks and were like, ‘Oh I’m sensing it.’”

“I was definitely intoxicated, because had I not been, I don’t think I would’ve taken the risk realizing that thing would’ve plummeted like 90 ft. to the bottom of the bay,” Brady acknowledged.

    Well, that’s certainly a revelation.

Had Brady’s teammates not caught what could have been the most significant catch of his career, it would have made for quite a spectacle. But we have to wonder if a few skilled divers could have handled that situation had it occurred.
