The mother of San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Ricky Pearsall disclosed that he was shot in the chest, with the bullet exiting through his back, as reported by Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk.

Pearsall was injured during a robbery attempt in San Francisco on Saturday, but he is said to be in stable condition.

“He was struck in the chest and it exited through his back,” Erin Pearsall posted on social media, according to Florio and David Lombardi of The Athletic. “Thanks be to GOD it spared his vital organs. He is feeling positive at this moment.”

A 17-year-old male suspect has been taken into custody in connection with the attempted robbery, which reportedly involved an attempt to steal a Rolex watch. A struggle over the gun occurred during the incident, resulting in the suspect also being wounded.

Videos of Pearsall walking to the ambulance circulated widely on social media.

    As stated by CBS Sports:

“San Francisco Police Chief William Scott commented that the suspect tried to rob Pearsall at gunpoint, leading to a confrontation where several shots were fired, injuring both Pearsall and the suspect.”

“The suspect was apprehended by police as he attempted to escape. He has been identified as a 17-year-old juvenile from Tracy, California. His name has not been released, and the district attorney’s office noted he will be charged in juvenile court.”

“Scott added that police recovered the firearm and indicated that the suspect acted alone, without specifically targeting Pearsall due to his status as a 49ers player.”

Pearsall was selected with the No. 31 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft from Florida.
