The New Orleans Saints are officially in a precarious situation. After suffering a defeat to the Kansas City Chiefs, the team has now dropped three straight games, leaving their season record at 2-3. This marks a stark contrast to their promising start with a 2-0 record.

Derek Carr Likely Out for Extended Period

Compounding their difficulties, starting quarterback Derek Carr sustained an oblique injury during the game and was unable to return. NFL insiders Mike Garafolo and Ian Rapaport report that Carr is anticipated to miss multiple games.

“QB Derek Carr is projected to miss several games due to an oblique injury incurred against the Chiefs. New Orleans has two games scheduled in the next nine days, and it seems he will not be available on Sunday against the Buccaneers and Thursday against the Broncos,” Garafolo tweeted on October 8.

“Derek Carr is known for his fierce competitiveness, so he’ll strive to return quickly. However, the medical team and trainers will ultimately determine his playing status, based on the severity of his oblique injury,” another source mentioned.

    Fan Concerns About Injury Impact

Derek Carr has been instrumental in the Saints’ strong start this season. Given that the team was trailing by less than two touchdowns at halftime, one can only wonder what might have happened had Carr completed the game. Following the update on Carr’s injury, Saints fans took to social media to voice their concerns.

“Damn, this is unfortunate for them. They were really performing well,” remarked one user on X, previously known as Twitter.

“With the Saints having back-to-back games coming up, this Derek Carr injury only adds to the challenges. I doubt the team will fare well in either game, especially since they are already dealing with numerous injuries. It’s going to be a tough few weeks for them,” another fan observed.

As Carr is expected to be out for a considerable time, the prospects for the franchise seem increasingly grim, especially with upcoming games against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Denver Broncos, and Los Angeles Chargers.
