STRONGSVILLE, Ohio (AP) — Browns rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders is facing allegations of driving a pickup truck at 101 mph (163 kilometers per hour) on an interstate in suburban Cleveland earlier this week.
According to a report shared with local media, the Strongsville Police Department apprehended Sanders at approximately 12:30 a.m. Tuesday in a 60 mph (97 kilometers per hour) zone on Interstate 71 close to the Ohio Turnpike.
At 23 years old, Sanders has the option to pay a $250 fine to resolve the fourth-degree misdemeanor charge, according to police.
The Browns have not yet provided a comment regarding the incident.
Sanders is the son of Hall of Fame player Deion Sanders and was selected in the NFL draft this spring (144th overall), despite many predictions placing him in the first round. He played for his father at the University of Colorado.
Currently, Sanders is in competition with three other quarterbacks on the Browns’ roster. The team concluded its minicamp last week and is set to begin training camp in late July.
