A devoted fan of the Colorado Buffaloes for decades, Peggy Coppom, affectionately known as Miss Peggy, is 100 years old and still going strong. With Deion Sanders stepping in as the head coach of the football team in 2023, Boulder has attracted national spotlight, and even Miss Peggy acknowledges that Coach Prime is the best thing to happen to Colorado.
On Sunday, Miss Peggy enjoyed dinner with Laura Levy, a real estate agent from Coldwell Banker. During their outing, Levy shared that Miss Peggy recorded a message for Sanders, who has a net worth of $60 million (according to Celebrity Net Worth). The message began with ‘Hey, Good Lookin’ and wrapped up with ‘We need you, Coach.’
“I had dinner with this ray of sunshine last night,” Levy posted on X. “I wanted to share this because the world (and the internet) could certainly use a little more of Miss Peggy right now.
“We cherish our moments with her. She recorded a private video message for
@DeionSanders, sending him extra prayers for continued healing. It started with ‘Hey, Good Lookin’!’ and ended with ‘We need you, Coach!’ At 100 years old, she’s still outpacing us all. She’s truly remarkable,” she added.

Miss Peggy has been a fixture at CU games since the 1940s. In earlier years, she attended with her sister Betty, who sadly passed away in 2020. Despite this loss, Peggy has continued to be a steadfast supporter, embodying a legacy that serves as an inspiration to the Colorado community.
After the Buffaloes managed just one win during the 2022 season, Deion Sanders became the head coach. Almost immediately, he sought to build a connection with the beloved superfan by visiting Miss Peggy at her home.
Sanders has expressed what he finds relatable about Peggy, stating that “She don’t have bad days; I don’t have bad days. That’s why we connect. I’ve never seen Peggy with a bad attitude or mad about something. It don’t happen. I love her for that. She’s so consistent.”
In November 2024, Folsom Field was filled with joyful singing of “Happy Birthday” as Peggy celebrated her 100th year. Sanders acknowledged this milestone with a dedicated apparel line in her honor.
He described the moment as ‘emotional’, admitting:
“I teared up on the sidelines…I didn’t want the opposing team to think I was getting soft.”
Coach Prime has truly endeared himself to fans in Boulder, including Miss Peggy, who witnessed Sanders transform a struggling program from one win to a successful 9-4 record in just two years.
