Matt Maiocco has reported that the 49ers’ seventh-round quarterback, Kurtis Rourke, is poised to be placed on the non-football injury list as training camp approaches.
Rourke has undergone ACL revision surgery in early January after playing the 2024 season with a torn ACL. If he remains on the NFI list when rosters are finalized at 53 players, he will be required to sit out a minimum of four games.
At 24 years old, Rourke entered college as a two-star recruit from Canada, committing to Ohio University in May 2018. He spent five years with the Bobcats, serving as the full-time starter for two seasons and earning MAC Offensive Player of the Year honors in 2022.
After his senior year at Ohio in 2023, Rourke transferred to Indiana as a four-star prospect. He took the reins as the Hoosiers’ starting quarterback in the 2024 season, finishing ninth in the Heisman voting.
Throughout his college career, Rourke played in 48 games for both the Bobcats and Hoosiers, completing 67 percent of his passes for a total of 10,693 yards, 79 touchdowns, and 21 interceptions. He also added 793 rushing yards and 13 touchdowns to his record.
