NFC Team Strengthens Super Bowl Aspirations with Alvin Kamara Acquisition

While the New Orleans Saints have yet to express any public interest in trading their star running back Alvin Kamara, the NFC South team might want to consider moving the five-time Pro Bowler while he’s still performing at a high level.

The Saints have missed the playoffs for three straight seasons, yet they have postponed a complete rebuild. General Manager Mickey Loomis could initiate this reconstruction by contemplating a trade involving Kamara.

Throughout his seven years in the NFL, the dynamic player has consistently accumulated over 1,100 yards of offense. Even though he missed four games in 2023, Kamara still managed to exceed that benchmark for a Saints offense that struggled with reliability during the season.

According to Over the Cap, the Saints are currently projected to be $72.893 million over the salary cap for 2025. Kamara’s cap hit for 2024 stands at $18.553 million, but it skyrockets to an astounding $29.077 million in the subsequent year.

The Dallas Cowboys appear to be a strong candidate for Kamara’s services, especially given their pressing focus on immediate success. With the departure of star RB Tony Pollard to the Tennessee Titans in free agency, it’s unlikely that Ezekiel Elliott can return to his 2018 performance level on his own.

A reasonable offer for Kamara might include a third-round draft pick in 2025, along with a restructured contract that eases the financial burden on Dallas. Kamara would likely be keen to join a Super Bowl contender, and he would seamlessly take the RB1 role in a Cowboys backfield that currently lacks depth.

The Mutual Benefits of Trading Alvin Kamara

Even as he nears his 29th birthday, Alvin Kamara shows no signs of decline. Teaming up with Dak Prescott, CeeDee Lamb, and Brandin Cooks could position the resilient running back to easily surpass 1,500 yards of offense.

For the Saints, trading Kamara now would free up essential salary cap space for the upcoming season, allowing Jamaal Williams and 2023 third-round pick Kendre Miller to step into starting roles in the backfield.

Taking everything into consideration, this proposed trade appears beneficial for all parties involved.
