Fresh off a remarkable college basketball season, she helped lead the UConn Huskies, alongside her girlfriend Azzi Fudd, to their 12th national championship.
While on the Orange Carpet, a reporter posed a hypothetical question to the 23-year-old about whom she would choose to throw a life-saving bucket for her. Her answer playfully acknowledged her deepening bond with the Huskies guard.
“I’m pickin’ Azzi Fudd,” Bueckers told SportsCenter without a moment’s hesitation.

Bueckers publicly acknowledged her romantic relationship with Azzi Fudd during the All-Star event, confirming that Fudd is indeed her girlfriend. This revelation unfolded during a Q&A session, where Bueckers highlighted that her partner had attended St. John’s and was the 2019 Gatorade National Player of the Year. When asked for her girlfriend’s name, Bueckers stated:
“Azzi Fudd.”
As Bueckers embarks on her WNBA journey following her senior year at UConn, she undoubtedly feels the absence of her girlfriend, Azzi Fudd, who might declare for the 2026 WNBA Draft.
Hints Dropped by Paige Bueckers and Azzi Fudd Ahead of Relationship Confirmation
Prior to making their relationship official, Paige Bueckers and Azzi Fudd, who first connected during USA Basketball tryouts in high school, dropped several hints about their romance.
In May, Fudd posted a TikTok discussing “princess treatment” with Bueckers while referencing a dinner bill. However, the relationship was officially confirmed in June when Fudd shared a mirror selfie that revealed the back of her phone case with the words:
“Paige Buecker’s Girlfriend.”
In addition to these gestures, the pair has shown their affection through cozy selfies, matching jewelry, and public displays of affection during Bueckers’ WNBA Draft celebration. Fudd was also seen wearing Bueckers’ No. 5 jersey at multiple Wings games.
It’s important to note that Bueckers played a significant role in Fudd’s decision to join UConn, having put together a video to present to Fudd’s parents showcasing what it would be like if she signed with the Huskies.
Fudd shared her first impression of Bueckers from their initial court encounter during tryouts.
“We both made the team, and I realized that she’s actually one of the best players I’ve ever seen play,” Fudd stated. “She’s deceiving… I was like, ‘Okay, I guess I was wrong about her.’”
It remains to be seen whether the two will play for the same team after Fudd is drafted next year. The Wings will need a top-five pick for that chance to become a reality.
