The atmosphere surrounding the Cincinnati Bengals has been less than favorable recently, but with Tee Higgins securing a long-term deal, there’s a glimmer of hope.
Amid ongoing issues with star pass-rusher Trey Hendrickson and concerns regarding their challenging schedule, the Bengals have faced a rough patch in the media.
Their first-round draft selection, Shemar Stewart, remains unsigned, further fueling criticism directed at the franchise.
Fortunately, Tee Higgins, one of the players who has received a contract from the organization, has stepped forward to inject some positivity into the situation for fans in The Queen City.
Tee Higgins aims to maintain health, asserts Bengals offense could be ‘deadly’
During a press conference on Tuesday, Higgins set his primary goal: to improve his health, having missed five games in each of the last two seasons. He emphasized the potential of the offense.
“I plan on staying healthy,” Higgins asserted. “Let’s not say ‘if.’ I plan on it. When I do, definitely could be deadly.”
Higgins expressed confidence about maintaining his health, stating he worked closely with his trainers during the offseason. He has altered his pre-practice routine to incorporate preventative measures aimed at reducing injuries. Considering his aspirations for the team’s trajectory, his optimism is understandable.
He also highlighted his desire to “go do what they paid me to do,” referring to his recent four-year, $115 million contract extension.

Higgins praised #3 wide receiver Andrei Iosivas for making significant strides, noting the Bengals will need that along with improved performances from last year’s third-round pick, Jermaine Burton, this season.
Despite possessing one of the league’s most formidable offensive lineups, bolstered by the talents of Higgins, quarterback Joe Burrow, and star wideout Ja’Maar Chase, concerns linger about the defense.
Continued negotiations with Hendrickson and Stewart could add to the challenges, especially as the team adapts to a new defensive coordinator, with Al Golden stepping in for long-time playcaller Lou Anarumo.
While retaining players like BJ Hill is a plus, it’s likely there will be an adjustment phase with the new defensive system. If Hendrickson remains without a new agreement, added pressure could fall on the offensive unit to perform effectively early in the season.
